Autism-informed training

During the Culture of Care programme, the team at Neurodiverse Connection provided bi-monthly 3-hour sessions designed to introduce autism-informed care, outlining the current understanding of autism as a sensory and social communication difference.

The sessions explored why an autism-informed approach to mental health care is needed, what it looks like and the positive impact it has on accessibility and outcomes for autistic individuals.

Unfortunately, now that the programme has ended, we can no longer offer these introductory trainings. However, if you and your team are interested in other trainings that Neurodiverse Connection offer, please visit their website.

If you have any questions, please email cultureofcare@rcpsych.ac.uk.

Objective

Many professionals entered this work because they care deeply about people. And yet, too often, the systems we work within push us toward managing behaviour, reducing risk, and “achieving outcomes”, sometimes at the expense of connection, autonomy and dignity. This toolkit offers something different. Developed by Neurodiverse Connection and grounded in the Autistic SPACE Framework, it presents a practical, relational approach to neurodiversity-affirming care and support.
